Japan Rolled Aluminium Shipment Keeps Y/Y Plus in April

Japanese aluminium re-rollers’ output of flat and extruded products increased by 1.5% to 168,584 tonnes in April from a year earlier, which represented year-to-year plus for 2 months in a row, announced by Japan Aluminium Association on May 25. The shipment increased by 1.4% to 166,048 tonnes, year-to-year plus for 3 months in a row. The demand was steady from cur industry, supported by Japanese government’s incentive program for environment friendly cars.

As for flat aluminium products, the shipment kept year-to-year minus for 11 straight months while the production represented year-to-year plus for 2 months in a row。 The shipment for car industry jumped by 41。3% to 11,847 tonnes in April from a year earlier。 The output of extruded aluminium products maintained year-to-year plus for 7 straight months and the shipment for 9 months。 The demand kept stable from construction and car industries。

Meanwhile, aluminium foil shipment for capacitors decreased by 7。9% to 2,993 tonnes in April from a year earlier。 The demand maintained weak。
